Linxia is a xeird city: Chinese, Mongolian, Muslim and Tibetan influences get mixed, and the local language has not been understood and analyzed by the linguists yet. Few foreigners are to be found... So the people are quite curious, but not so agressive like elsewhere in China, rather childish!
Here I was showing to some market dwellers postcards I had kept of Istanbul - mosques especially. To these remote Muslims, far away from any well-known Muslim religious center, this was a wonderful opportunity... They debated about my mosques pictures very intensely! And seemingly the guy on the right was much more informed than the two younger ones, he was the expert on that subject for sure...
