Photographer’s Note
World heritage site Skogskyrkogården in Stockholm on All saint's eve. Thousands of people come to the cemetary this evening to put candles on their lost loved one's graves this evening. Skogskyrkogården (The forest cemetary in English) is a truly beautiful place designed by world famous architect Gunnar Asplund. The Unesco homepage says: "The design blends vegetation and architectural elements, taking advantage of irregularities in the site to create a landscape that is finely adapted to its function. It has had a profound influence in many countries of the world." A few years ago Greta Garbo was burried here.
This day was just as grey as only November can be in Sweden. November is when darkness really come and stay until Spring in April. Instead of photographing all the candles on the graves I tried to show the atmosphere of the evening.
