Photographer’s Note
This is the first of a series of shots from these falls in Shenandoah National Park. The falls are only 1.5 mile off the Skyline Drive, the only road through the park. However the 1.5 hike back up was painful since I was carrying about 30 pounds of phot gear on my back and I guess being a smoker did not help.
So I am very proud of these pics because they have been the most painful of all.
I am including another version of this shot in which I used Melacolyntron to create a moody atmoshere. Tell me what you think.

This is a magnificent shot! Obviously te cascade is the cetral feature here, and the positioning in the frame is good, with the falls very close and detailed. The rocks are well presented too, with water on the rocks giving a good shine. The fallen leaves in front provide some valuable colour. Superb!

Hi Nikos
Beutifull shot, of wonderfull place. I think it's worth of any effort to come to this place, and of course your smokers loungs get a little cleaning. (Just a joke)
Photo is nice. I look at your other version, but this one is much more appealing to me.

Darko

You have every right to be proud; this is going into my favourites. I have struggled with waterfalls in the past and realise how difficult this must have been. The motion blur, the colours and sharpness of the surroundings are spot on. One tip though - give up on the smoking :)

Hello Nikos, this is a wonderful time exposure. I've never quite been able to capture this silky water and rich forest light as you have here. The colourful leaves in the foreground are particularly attractive.

Hi Nikos. It's nice to see a shot from the other side from where I posted mine. The compositon and fallen leaves really make this my favorite of your Dark Hollow Falls shots. Yes the hike is short but steep, 440 ft of climbing to be exact. I always laugh at the peeople who go umprepared for this hike. If you want a tough hike try this: Upper Doyles River Falls. Excellent shot Nikos.

Great one too. The tone of the photo is more blueish bringing a different mood.
A wider perspective on the water falls.
Cheers, Yan
p.s. I prefer this one to the ws.

Was this photo in any photography magazines? I can swear that I have seen this image before. Wonderful light, focus and color. Your slow shutter speed makes a beautiful scene here.
