Photographer’s Note
I just checked - this must be the first picture of a hedgehog on TE. The Hedgehog a common animal in Denmark and I guess in most parts of the world.
I noticed that our two cats seams to be eating more and the reason was this little fellow. He was trying to get fat before the winter and the cat’s feeding bowl did him well.
His next step will be to find a dry spot with some leaves where he can sleep during the winter. I have often found sleeping Hedgehogs in such places - and of course left them alone.
Photo: Unshaped mask, cropping, resize, saturation, sharpening.
NB! This picture was taken before I knew about TE and was mostly taken to test my new camera.
I should have "asked" him to find a better background ;-) (besides I coulden't find my tick work gloves)

Good composition, Jeppe,
It's a pity that the behind is a travel bag, or something like that. But who cares I like the subject.

This hedgehog is very sharp and the coulours are well chosen. This darkness in the background illustrate well that he is ready to sleep. Nice shot!

It looks as if it still needs a bit of fattening up before hibernation, maybe it's one of the youngs from this year. Colours are rendered well, DOF is good, but couldn't you have asked your model to pose in nicer surroundings than your garden shed next to a bag of concrete or what have you ;-))?

I like this little guy, although he seems sad. The bits of sand or food on his face make the photo come alive for me. I don't mind the bag much but I hope eats some more cat food before he hibernates.

I like the little light in his eyes - did you use a flash? Maybe you could have lied flat on the ground to get more of a "hedgehog's eyes view" of the subject but maybe that wasn't physically possible - plus with some animals that just encourages them to bite you although I don't think hedgehogs are aggressive....The DoF's good and you've captured all the detail in the hair and spines. Hedgehog's are lovely animals - usually covered in fleas but none the less lovely.

A most attractive creature, a little spiky, but nevertheless cute. I hope you will be able to post more images of hedgehogs. In Australia the equivalent animal is called an echidna, which is a monotreme, it is one of the only two mammals in the world that lays eggs. It also has a pouch. When the young echidna, called a puggle, is 'born', it is blind with undeveloped hands and feet, barely a featus. The tiny puggle then crawls through the fur to the pouch (like with a marsupial such as a kangaroo) where it attaches itself to a nipple. The hedgehog and an echidna do look similar. I agree with the above comments, the hedgehod is sharp, an urban fellow by all accounts.

You have captured this wild animal very well. Photo is very sharp, therefore showing great detail of the animals coat. Great job. I've only seen hedgehogs in England, so it's nice to know they also exist in Denmark.

A lovely shot. Very sharp - showing great details. I like the shades of brown on its head and the light in its eye. Well done.

Hi Jeppe
Lovely hedgehog. I have a pair of the animals in my garden, but now they probably fell asleep for a winter.
Greetings
