I really like the play with thelight through the branches on this oak. I know they can be very hard to photo, and I think this one is very worthy, though it would have been nice to see it the full 800 pixels.

Quite a magestic view of old royalty. The B&W is a nice touch on that one. TFS.

i think you made a good decision to made it B&W, it just gave the spooky feeling, the fog creates a very good impression on the tree, wel capture and framed.....rgds

Hi! Hubert,
You describe the scale so well and I am in awe of her majesty.
Just two suggestions: a. If you shoot this on digital again, WB it for tungsten light to get a blue toned image or Blue tone your bromide print.. I can just imagine this subject matter really comming alive in shades of Blue.
b. Include a child for scale under the centre of the tree looking up. (idealy) wearing a savannah hat. and in silhouette.
Thanks for sharing this great scene and allowing me to imagine.
Mike.

Wow! Looks like Medusa just stuck her head out of the earth. Really like all the branches and the twists this tree has. I think this picture looks great in the BW theme, it makes the whole view a little more mysterious!
Great job!!

I LOVE this shot! Trees hold so much life and history. This particular tree looks like she would have quite the story to tell. The longer I look at this photo the more the branches seem to look like veins. The stark contrast of the lines of the branches to the fog is amazing. Great picture!!

This image instantly catched my eyes when I was visiting your profile. What a wonderful tree and how well you put it into an image (I somehow hesitate to use the word "capture"). The glowing fog adds a lot of mistery and majesty to an already amazing tree. Its twists and branches remember me of the fractals en-vogue in the 80's.
Hi! I follow a chicken I see :D
It caught my eye as well, and more, no need to say. Was it shot in the morning? Portraits of trees are always great in the misty morning, insomuch as the tree is deserving.
And I never found a tree more deserving of the attention of a perfectionist as you are, Hubert Well Done ;) F'

Cool shot;
I really like how the tonal level conveys the depth of the image- the darker branches being closer and the lighter branches being hidden by the fog. Well spotted and beautifully captured Grav!

Thank you for this gorgeous picture of a live oak in my hometown! You've made me homesick. I like the different levels created by the mist - they make the picture seem three-dimensional, with black branches reaching out towards you and light grey branches in the background.

Hi Hubert
That's one impressive tree, beautifully presented in this shot, and i think you did well, the fog certainly presents a aire of mystery, the composition works well, and it's nice to see someone still using B&W film.

Hi there :)
There is no doubt, you have a heart for this tree ;). Beautiful tree and very good photo. The myst around makes it magic like from a tale about Hobbits and Elves. The branches around are making a good frame and nicely close the view. I like to photograph trees so it always make me intrested how other people looks at them. In Poland we have also a song named "Dziwne Drzewa" ( Strange Trees ).

Hi Hubert,
This is one of the most impressive tree photos i've ever seen in TE.
Has been two years since upload. I recommend you to resize it to 800x533 and repost it. I think she desreves much more appreciation.
Cheers,
Deniz
