Photographer’s Note

I met this girls three years ago in the village of Shegar in Tibet on the way to Everest base camp.

There was a recess in school and the children came to ask for money and sweets - as many 4WD had just arived. It looked like daily routine for them, concentrated on catching as many tourists as possible.

This is one of the most touristic areas in this part of the world and the poorest one that I have seen on my way. Of course, it is stupid to give money to children begging on the road, but these are the only tourists' money that go to local people there.
