Photographer’s Note
I took this picture from inside the Tower of London. It is a very historic place to visit. They used to hold prisoners in here and even beheaded some people in the square. It is a fun place to visit, the people that work there, dress in costume and do re-enactments. People also live there and this a shot of some of the residences. I liked the blue doors and all the greenery.

Hi Katie, I liked the look of these buildings too when I visited the Tower in 1999. Quite an interesting place to visit. It seems strange to live here in these places that are surrounded by tourists all the time.
Good composition and colours - great door of blue. Well done.

A very good eye you have for capturing patterns in this scene. The angle deceives me into thinking that its leaning but its right on teh wertical line. Suggestion...by adding a litle contrast you can remove the cloudy look to it. Cheers Paul.

I remember being amazed to see that people live here to. I looked at the histogram of this one in photoshop and it is slightly to the right, indicating over exposure. I did an adjustment to bring it back again and applied unsharp mask in Photoshop to sharpen it up slightly. Further to my previous critique, I think most people would agree that levels and sharpening are essential parts of the work flow - hope the work shop helps.

Hi Katie. I like the close-in framing and the textures on the side of the building. Paul (PJE) is right about bumping up the contrast. Increasing the contrast can reduce the muddiness because it moves the grays to the blacks and this increases apparent clarity. I know I sound like a broken record but this shot also needs some sharpening. I'd suggest USM at 200% and 0.3 pixel. Nice one Katie.
