Photographer’s Note
In Sembadel, a small village close to La-Chaise-Dieu, I was suprised to see these painted monuments. Also catholic figures and monuments dedicated to the soldiers who died at war are common in France, it is quite seldom to see painted monuments.
On this picture, we see 3 monuments :
* the church on the background
* a statue to the virgin Mary on the middle ground
* and the statue of a french soldier of the first world war with the names of the numerous soldiers of this little village who died at war (a little less than 260 inhabitants today.
The man on the picture is the only alive being on the picture.
