Photographer’s Note

Zugarramundi is a small town, famous for its witches and it's cave called "witches' cave". The town is located near the french frontier, not far from Espelette village (very famous for its hot spice "piment d'Espelette").

When entering the village, the atmosphere changed and got very strange. There wasn't anybody on the way to get there and I barely count more then 3 people other than toursists.

I found that view of an old bath in this field surrounded by pyrenea mountains almost "out of time" and decided to shoot the scene.

The weather torn heavy and a few minutes after this shot a big storm wet my clothes. Then it wasn't possible to visit the cave. The only thing I saw is an ancient hand written list with the names of all the witches and the castigation endured by them for that crime. There name, age, position in the witches' cast and castigation can be seen at the entrance of the cave.

Soon a sorcery museum will open its doors right next to the witches'cave. You're more than welcome ;o)
