Photographer’s Note
This is a another picture of the boys i had great fun playing soccer with yesterday. The boy is the owner of the feet in my last post.
This was taken just before they cooled off by jumping in the river.
PP cropped in PS to try and frame the boy in the centre a little better. I know you shouldnt put your subject in the centre but i think this works as he is framed by the other boys.

Hi peter.
Okay, I see there are some problems, let me explain them.
#1 a composition problem. You cut the boy's head on left side which I didn't think it was necesary to do. Also I see a big meaningless space on right side. You could fill the frame with the boys in full of joyful expressions.
#2 timing problem. I don't think the boys had to look at your lens but then it doesn't mean you didn't have to capture their joyful expression. So it means you needed to capture more actions of the boys in the frame.
#3 technical problem. Colours aren't nice, also lacking sharpness.
I could come here with a general comment, or more modest opinion. But I thought you also wanted to get some feedbacks from others. I also want to hear the opinions people really have on the photos I upload on TE. so I decided to leave my most honest opinion on the image. I hope you know what I mean...And I think you know when you get less smileys it means something.
Have a good night!

I've just read the exchange between you and Lauryn and felt compelled to add my 10 penneth. I agree with her points 1&3 and with you on the 2nd point. I think if you just concentrate on the 3 main boys and crop out the 4th boy as he adds nothing to the composition the image works much better. I have done a WS too. Let me know what you think.

Hi Peter,
I like this one. Nice capture of every day childhood but also of the happiness of youth. The main subject here has a very interesting pose, he also displays great pride in a way.
Cutting off people is not a problem for me. If you shoot in a crowd, it will happen, and as long as the main subject is there for us to see, its not a problem. Some of the best photojournalistic stuff has cut off heads, arms, bodies. It goes with the territory. In this photo, as far as Im concerned, the composition is not of the 3 boys, they are the environment surrounding the main subject.
Technically, I think you could play with some things like sharpness (it perhaps needs a bit) as well as the saturation and contrasts. You could also adjust some of the color levels to make it more lively. Other than that, its good as it is.
