Photographer’s Note

This is the first photo of my Cappadocia series. We visited this Turkish region in september and I was simply amazed by how erosion can alter the landscape. The soft tufa-stone has been worn away over the millenia leaving unearthly looking cones and pillars that dot the region. Early Christians carved out churches, homes and entire cities from the soft tufa, making human presence blend in with nature's work. It's a mission impossible to describe Cappadocia: you simply have to see it.
