Hi Norbert,
A beautiful encounter, and I remember well it's quite common to see various animals on the roadsides in this region especially if you drive in the early morning hours when there's not too much traffic.
Beautiful specimen here, the horns are superb and you had it place itself just right for a nice compo, I guess you had to zoom a bit ?
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Hi Norbert,
Superb elk. I love the way it's just posing for you... are you sure it's real? ;o)
I like the afternoon light on the elk and the surrounding grass.
Have a nice day!

this picture would even get a lot of points on TrekNature! Excellent shot; not easy to shoot (with camera) a elk. And then you succeed to not only put the elk in the picture but you even succeed in making it a great composition with the animal slightly decentralised. Good sharpness, colours, and a neutral, natural background! Congratulations!

Hallo Norbert,
Greetings,

Beautiful shot of this magnificent creature! The pose of the animal is great, very classic. The lighting is just right, and the positioning in the frame is just right too. One touch that I really like in this is the grass slope, which adds some visual interest. It must have taken you a while to get the perfect postitioning and timing for this, but it was worth it. Congratulations on a magnificent photo!

Beautiful photo. Your lighting here is amazing. This photo reminded me of my freightening experience inside this reservation. I drove here in 1968 by myself when I was living in Vancouver, B.C. I had a flat tire inside the reservation and three of these elks are right by my car. I was so scared to go out. When the elks walked away, I will do my work changing the tires. It took me 4 hours and I must have lost five pounds of my 85 pound body. I just want you to know that I am only 4'-10" high! Now at least I am a little heavier at 105 pounds.

Hello Norbert! Doesn't anybody want to make a wildlife picture like this? This is a classic shot: a beautiful and impressive male elk/deer, watching over his territory in front of the green trees. Very good sharpness on the elk, and nice blurry background. Really nice work!

Hey Norbert,
I have a got a couple of hunter friends that would love this photo. I have never understood why, but hunting deer and moose is very popular in Canada. Probably has something to do with our past.
This is such a great picture of that beautiful animal and the way you have framed him, the light and the DOF all make for a superb shot. I can’t believe you where lucky enough to catch one like this. I have tried on so many occasions, but never got this close.
Congrats,

Hi Norbert. Ahh another shot with the new lens! You have a nice compromise between completely zooming in on the elk and still getting a good composition. I do really like that tall grass in the foreground. Plus the light was so accommodating. And the background helps by being slightly out of focus. Good work Norbert.

When I was in the Canadian rockies, a tele-zoom was missign to me... Here it's a very nice picture of this Wapiti with a good framing and depth of flield. Well done, Norbert!

Hi Norbert
Perhaps a slightly tighter crop, for this one? But the sharpness, lighting, & dof, are all impeccable. Good work!

a very nice catch, if I can say so..
Those are incredible, so big, and imaposing. 170 would mean 255mm for your Nikon. It 's not taht far, and the resolution is pretty good.

Hi Norbert: I think you have truly captured the majesty of this proud bull elk. He is a realy beauty, and you were fortunate to have such an opportunity.
This is a great compositon. I can almost feel the smugness of this old patriarch. This picture has done him proud. Well done!

Bien vu Norbert
Ce Cerf semblait attendre votre passage:))
La période du Brâme est proche et ces animaux deviennent moins craintifs à l'époque des amours.
Le cadrage est très appréciable ainsi que la D.O.F

A marvelous capture of this magnificent wapiti, Norbert. I'm also glad you sorted out the confusion of language around the word 'elk'. So I guess this one correspond to the largest species of deer we find mostly in central Europe, but also in the southern part of Sweden. You were lucky to get such a clean shot of him - well composed, behind the billowing meadow - so very sharp and with a well calculated DOF. It most certainly would adorn any wall. Very well done!

Hi Norbert
Excellent. I would love to capture such a view. Unfortunately, I'm not lucky or not patient enough. This is a splendid animal, and its head was just in the ray of light (you... lucky man !!!!) Perfect framing, that's one of the most beautiful I saw recently regarding wild life. Congratulations...
