Photographer’s Note
There is no feeling like the one of being on safari. Visiting a game park, you suddenly realise you are a weakened, small animal. We are so accustomed to zoos that we forget what it's like to let an animal walk wherever he pleases, under none of our restrictions. We forget the power of lions until one is right next to our car, staring at us.
Driving for hours in open fields of game parks, you feel the power of nature, the strength of the sky, and a sense that God is nearer than He ever was before. I wanted to capture that feeling, and when we drove up to this listlessly wandering lion (a rare sight in the middle of the day, when they prefer to doze) I saw it through my viewfinder: this powerful animal under an even more powerful empty sky. Here we were, two animals looking at each other, both answering to an invisible Creator.

Beautiful photo of this lion. Great colour and depth to the image. Really nice shot. Shame he's just slightly dark/shadowed.

Nice composition!
Youre right, watching animals at the zoo is not the real thing.
I like the clouds and the blue backround color of the mountains.
I think that some minor post processing could imprve this picture, i will post one later to the workshop.

Incredible that still lion you could shot, I can hardly imagine the effect of crossing such a king, so close.
The picture is great, with the feeling that the beast is posing. The depth of view is amazing.
Must have been a great journey.
Congratulations!
