Nevada Fall and Granite Peaks
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This was taken at Yosemite National Park in California. One day in September 2005, we hiked to the top of Nevada Fall from Happy Isles trailhead via the Mist Trail. It was a really steep trek. The hike to the top of Nevada fall involved an elevation gain of 2,000 ft in just 2.5 miles (4 km)!
We took another route back to the trailhead, via the John Muir Trail, which was longer (3.3 miles/5.3 km) but less steep. This shot was taken about 30 minutes from Nevada Fall, with a beautiful view of it, Liberty Cap (right), Mt. Broderick (middle) and the backside of famous Half Dome (left).
Our hike was a total of 5.8 miles long, and it took us 6 hours to complete, including hanging out at the top and stopping to take photos.
These are just three of the many granite peaks in Yosemite. This park is just majestic! |

Nice shot Cy - one of my favorite places - I like the way you've included plenty of scenery in this shot, rather than just isolating the falls themeselves. Those grantie domes are simply fantastic - and you caught their natural shine a treat - just makes me want to go back!
Regards.
