Photographer’s Note
Here is the view essentially 180 degrees from the other
Risnov-picture. I don't remember the name of the town beneath (maybe Risnov as well?). As you can see there is a stone pig in lower left corner, I can't give any information about it but I think it's kind of amusing.
What I like about this picture is all the obvious things: Contrast between new and old, close and distant and the mist and greyish colors.
Editing included converting to square format, vignetting gave me some problems with the outer parts of the picture. I also edited the overall and blue tone curve and sharpened after resizing.

Interesting composition with the old and the new architecture. The old house makes a good composition. The red roof reanimates the boring scene. The sky it's maybe to much, because it is not present anything.

Nice composition, the building in the forground goes well with the general misty and depressed atmosphere.
But less impressive that your other Risnov picture to me...

Hey, Simon..really nice one here. You have really nice contrasts both as a metaphor, and the rooftop against the smartly placed black frame. I was to that place too...though i am not that good at architectural photos.. :( .
Ohh...and, next time you are in Romania, let me know, i'll show you some great places ;) .
Bogdan.
