Hi everyone,
It is good to be back here at TrekEarth after a long time away. This photo was taken during the fiesta of Urkupiņa, in Quillacollo (just outside the city of Cochabamba). The festival is a celebration that commemorates the miraculous appearance of the Virgin of Urkupiņa up in the mountains, and in addition to the parades (pictured), also involves a pilgrimage to the mountain where one then breaks a stone from the rocky surface which can then be blessed.
The parades consisted of bands and groups of folkloric dancers from across the country.

Hi Adam,
these traditional dresses are simply beautiful...the Ayamara flag may take a little too much space here but i'm happy to see some images from the Urkupiņa fiesta, one i'd still love to visit, ...i was never in Cochabamba at the right time i suppose...cheers, arturo
Nice shot Adam and wellcome back !!! :D
This Fiesta of Urkupiņa is one of the most colour festival with the CArnival of Oruro, have u been there???
