Sunrise on the Chickahominy Photo

Photographer’s Note

The Chickahominy River is a relatively small river that sprouts off the James River in Virginia. The water is very calm and blue, especially in the morning hours when boat traffic is low. I was out shooting the sunrise when this father and son put a small motor boat in the water to go out fishing. You see them here leaving the docks. The sun was in a perfect position coming up over the tree line and cast a brilliant light on the peaceful water.

I applied some basic USM and intensified the red tones slightly to warm up the colors.

hi, this is a very nice shot; the sun rays look magnificent and generally, you have great colours here. I like those silhouettes of some fishermen in the bottom right corner :) greetings ;)

superbe coucher de soleil. Ce n'est pas si évident d'avoir une telle qualité dans les tons et la composition. Bravo et merci.

Hi Eric, Beautiful colours! I like the contrast between the black silhouettes and the reddish tones that come from the rising sun. The sun itself is also interesting, you can't see its shape but the rays around it, i like how they come out from behind the trees. All in all- I like the photo ver ymuch:-)
