Photographer’s Note
Gåsetårnet
This picture is taken in de city of Vordingborg, which is located in the south of the island Sjælland, in the province of Storstrøm. The tower you can see here is called Gåsetårnet, which means the Goose Tower.
This tower is part of the castle, that was built by King Valdemar Atterdag around 1364. Apart from some wall, Gåsetårnet is the only part of the old castle which still remains fully. The tower is 26 meter high and on top there's a golden goose, so that explains the name. The tower was the first protected historic monument in Denmark.
In the WS you can find a painting of Gåsetårnet, which I saw in Statens Museum for Kunst (National Gallery) in Copenhagen.
When I took this picture it was a very bright day, so I used a very high shutter speed. I've tried also picture without the path on the right hand side, but I think it's better with the path.
I hope you like it!

Hi Lars,
Very nice composition. Great perspective and beautiful colours. The light management is very good, althought the sun seems to be very strong. I love the "green carpet" in front of the tower. Very well done!

Very good picture Lars.
Love the green colour of the grass and trees in contrast with the sharp blue sky.
Good composition. Beautiful place.
Thank you for sharing.

Hej Lars,
Nice view of this medieval tower. The landscape has changed over the last years. It hasn't more cows or goosies. Very nice colours, textures, lightness. Good perspective.

Good presentation of this tower Lars. All details well set in the compo. I am not so sure of the path to the right - maybe cropping it had worked as well too.
Nice work

Bonjour Lars,

Mooi werk man!
John.

Hi Lars,
nice, bright image of the castre and the green. I agree with Wes, the road is OK, even if i think that a broader, more complete view of the road (if without peoples)was better equilibrated with the mass of the castle.
Anyhow a nice view!
ciao, Giorgio

Good composition and management of light. I was wondering if the sweep of grass has once been a moat. The painting doesn't really tell me as it looks like it was painted from a different viewpoint.

Hi Lars,
A well composed shot with good colour and clarity. The shadows on the rich grass enhance and I like the placement of the tower in the frame a little off centre. This scene reminds me of the park in Copenhagen near the pier where the cruise ships tie up. Well captured.

Hi Lars, I like the contrast between the green ground and the blue sky in this picture. I agree with you that the inclusion of the road made a better composition, which show the depth of the shot. Even it was under a bright sunlight, you have managed to get a nice contrast and depth out from this picture.
On the picky side: from mathematical point of view 1/1250 second shot is a very high shutter speed, or a short exposure.
I enjoy this shot. It looks that you have good time there.

Hi Lars,
What a coincidence! I did take lately a picture of the goose on top of this tower.
I hope you like it that I have posted this picture in the WS here. I think we should have met each other there :D

Hi Lars!
You captured great scenery; such places are interesting for me. Colors and sharpness are fine but this photo needs a crop on the right side. I make a workshop for you.
Regards.

A fine view indeed and you can't mention Vordingborg to a dane - before he says Gåsetårnet.
Too bad I didn't took the time to visit it when I was living in Vordingborg this summer (ok only one night).
I believe the f/2.8 why you having problems getting the image complete sharp - but still a fine job - thanks Lars.

Hey lars, I dont think this is the best viewpoint for this tower, its obscured quite a lot by those trees, I also dont like too much the inclusion of the street lamps and the pavement onthe right hand side, I dont think they add to the photo and it woudl look so much better if you had cropped them out. I know you like it though so ill let it slide :P
I do however like the green grass, and treesagainst that bright blue sky, and how you posted an alternate viwe from the painting. I think the painting is a more interesting composition and that if you could have recreated the paingit in your photo that would have been something really special.
In fact thats given me an idea, recreating famous paintings in digital format... ha that woudl be fun! now to find some local paintings!

My fist idea was to crop, and with alexlie 's work you have a nice homogeneistic view from this gren place and tower.
Good colors and beautiful area.

Hej Lars,
I love to see all this green foreground and the shadows of the trees. It's nice to see the tower and agree with you about the path on the right side. I have loved the image in ws to complement this picture and that new roof in this image doesn't work well for my eyes. The POV is good and the natural colours are beautiful. Good work!

Lars, cette photo est bien construite avec ce premier plan vert, puis les arbres et leur ombre en perspective pour aboutir à cette tour assez originale. La partie de droite a été supprimée dans le WS et c'est ce qu'il fallait faire.

Nice undulation of the grass toward the old wall of the city. I believe it must have looked a bit different when this walls were used as a protection. The conical structure on top of the tower looks a bit modern compared to the tower itself.
All the best,
Emmanuel
