Photographer’s Note
In Stalgene, the crops are off the fields, apart from the beets for the animals. Some fields are already plowed, but most of them have this golden colour. The storks have left, so the small animals get one more chance to walk around free and prepare for winter.
In Latvia, sumers are shorter and warmer compared with the western part of Europe, due to it's location. This means that around this time, during the day we still have the summer, but it starts to cool down in the afternoon, around six.
In the far distance is an old, ruined windmill. I think it must have been used for grain, since the area around Stalgene is known for it's grains. It is the only part of Latvia that is reletively flat.
Like many other places in Latvia, Stalgene had a Kolchos, and around the town are the scattered remains of them. Any of you who has been in Latvia wil remember these industrial ruins, or half demolished barns.
Stalgene isn't much of a place on first sight, but it is quiet and if you have the time to look at the nature, it's as beautiful as a painting. Autumn will change the colours once more, and then winter will come . . .
Stalgene in winter
The foto was cropped, the contrast was enhanced and the brightness reduced. Then I resised it and sharpened it.
