Indeed, Angola lost a lot of people under the colonial trade and this place was one of the major place in western africa were the various people of the former N'gola kingdom were brought to South America into slavery starting from the 17th century. According to what I read, this horrible trade was organized by local personnalities.

You didn't miss a lot actually because apart from few pictures and half a dozen of canons, there is almost nothing to see in the "Museu da esclavatura", south of "Futungo" harbour. But there is a lot of sad remembrance in this place and a strong feeling of waste mostly toward Brazil.

You know, a famous sport like Capoeira probably arrived in Brazil from this harbour. Today, one of the two major styles of Capeira is called "Capoeira Angola".

Nice shot which could worthely illustrate the heavy and sad inheritage of the country and the unability of the country due to the lack of means to teach it outside.

To bad the sky was overblown. I guess it was the bad season called "Caçimbo".
