I think this might be first picture on Trek Earth from Nigeria? I took this photograph in Northern Nigeria, in a rural area near Kano city (coincidentally on Christmas day). This area is known as the Sahel region, the semi-desert Southern fringe of the Sahara desert. The land here is dry with very little rainfall. This photograph shows a farmer transporting sorghum stover back to his home in the bullock cart. Stover are the dry stalks of a plant after the grain is harvested. The stover will be used as fodder for animals during the dry season as well as for thatching material.
I have posted another picture that shows one of the creative and interesting ways that farmers store their stover.
This was taken with my first 1M camera in 2000 so the photo isn't that all that sharp or detailed. Any suggestions and workshops welcome! |

Very nice, Brajesh, this is a great "daily life" depiction. We can see the dryness of the landscape, and way people cope with the conditions they live in, with animal labor in this case. The front view of the man and animals is the most vivid angle, too.
Hi!
Nice picture hwre you can really see hat work you have to do there.
Unfortunately itīs no so sharp...
