Photographer’s Note

Yankee Boy Basin, San Juan Mountains, Colorado

Wildflowers abound in this high mountain basin (11,000-12,000-feet (~3350m-3650m)) during the month of July. This year, because of the heavy winter snows and late summer, the wildflowers were still blooming well into August. This south facing hill slope was a blaze with orange, yellow, blue and white flowers. I captured this image from the jeep road looking up towards the mountain tops (14,000 feet (4200+m)).
