Photographer’s Note
Yankee Boy Basin, San Juan Mountains, Colorado
Wildflowers abound in this high mountain basin (11,000-12,000-feet (~3350m-3650m)) during the month of July. This year, because of the heavy winter snows and late summer, the wildflowers were still blooming well into August. This south facing hill slope was a blaze with orange, yellow, blue and white flowers. I captured this image from the jeep road looking up towards the mountain tops (14,000 feet (4200+m)).

Serwus John !
What a colourful palette here ! Flowers are marvellous with the strong contrast of the threatening mountains and moody sky. I'm curious what's in the center of your frame? Looks like butterfly, but maybe just a part of snow...
I'm still impressed by Your incredibly nice framing. I really don't know how to create a frame without using a part of image for that. Maybe, You share this secret someday ?
Thanks John,
Mat

I love the wildflowers in this image John. I like how you have composed the shot to give them prominence with the mountains as a background. We encountered the widflowers at their best when we were in Washington State this summer.
Good image

John, what a wonderful natural lower bouquet. I never saw such a colorful collection of wildflowers in California. Are you sure that you want to leave Colorado? Great composition with the succeeding layers of flora topping into the mountain in the background. Very well balanced composition.

Stunning shot of the colorful mix of wildflowers against the dramatic San Juan Mts. You picked a great vantage point and composed it carefully, using a diagonal line at the horizon to add flow. Really terrific!
