Final upload from a recent hike up Mount Snowdon in North West Wales.
Mount Snowdon is the highest point in England and Wales at 1085m, and is very tourist-friendly, with 6 major hiking routes up to the summit, as well as a steam railway that goes to the very top, allowing nearly 500,000 people a year to reach the summit.

This photo is taken from the car park at Llyn Gwynant, which is at the starting point of the Watkin path p to the top (around 3-4 hours hike for 8km and over 4,500ft ascent). The peak of Snowdon is the highest point in the background of the photograph, and although it doesnt show up clearly on the picture, the stone marking the summit and the railway station can be seen from down here. The Watkin path weaves its way around the ridges in the foreground up to the top, and then the South Ridge path brings you down along the top of the ridge running left from the summit.
It's a tough walk but affords some stunning views and is well worth the effort. All my recent postings from this area were taken along this route. |
