The festival 'Holi' celebrates the arrival of Spring - with vibrantly colored powers and paints liberally thrown onto anyway who happens to be outside on this day. Lots of fun - and in order to capture it (with some respect for your camera), it's best not to be on the streets amongst the action. I had a little appartment which over looked the alleyways of the Jaisalmer Fort - so I took this photo from a balcony which overlooked the streets. What an awesome view point!

This is something that I would like to shoot myself. A nice capture from a well chosen vantage point.

Very nice shot, with nice POV, to bad there is nothing to focus on this scene. However it is a colorful and happy picture.

The reason you don't see so often this subject, I suppose, that most fear for their tool and clothes with all the colored dust, and you found a perfect well protected hide out to shoot it in a perfect POV and at the most intens moment coloring the whole immage, it goes perfectly well with your second post on this Holi festival, a very well captured shot here and unique as there are no other so well showing the atmosphere.

Hi David, a real astonishing shot ... how can they survive among that powder? It's unhealthy! Technically, it is a great shot, with a clear sense of movement and good colours. Bravo!

Some men did this in the House of Commons in England, they got locked up for throwing purple powder. Apparently the MPs thought they were under a chemical attack!
A brilliant shot and I wish I had seen this festival when I was there. Superb pov.

Hi David, a pleasure to give me the opportunity to visit your gallery, some of your picture are very famous as i'm browsing it ... great skills you have in photogrpahy, excellent eye, marvelous portraits and untraditional compos, choices of POVs ...
I stop on this one, which is brilliant, what a pinky picture ! Perhaps a little bit too much saturation or contrast i don't know but this is excellent ... For a first picture on TE, it was a tremendous start

Good start to TE with this picture. Nice action and moments of the festivity captured. Nice pov.

Of course, great colours - in French, that kind of pink is called "Indian pink", I can see why !
As a woman, I never liked Holi as the normal barriers are broken (which is great), everybody is touching each other regardless of casts etc (no problems with that either), but there are a few stupid guys who touch females purposedly on sensitive parts and linger their fingers intentionally : terribly disagreable :((
... That's my personal experience of Holi, walking in the streets that day, without the comfortable protection of a man beside me...
OK, still fun to watch...
And I'll add this too to my theme !

This is a great first post Dave. Looks like total chaos in the streets with perfect timing catching the purple powder grendae going off. A really good composition, all about color, giving a real sense of the clutter on the streets and the chaos produced by the festival.
One of the better first posts I've seen.

It's Holi, explosion pink colour.
Captured the crucial moment very well from the good spot. Yellow of the wall also contributes to the perfection improvement of this photo.
