Photographer's Note
This is one of our stops on the road between Ayacucho and Vilcashuaman. (A few hours after stopping ofr breakfast in the latest photo). This is a small forest of Puyas. There is a much larger one, but it takes a three hour hike to get to it, so we had to be happy with visiting this one.
Puyas ara plants that are related to pinapple trees. The pointy parts are flowers which take up to 100 years to fully flourish and can reach a diameter of 2 meters and a height of 10 meters making it the biggest flower in the world. Once the plant has totally flowered, it keeps it for three months before starting its death process. The Puya only grows in some locations in Peru.
In the workshop you can find me and my friend next to one not fully grown one.

Hi Daniel,
What a wonderful landscape. A great picture down towards the quite empty fields with only a couple of trees . Very well done.

bonne prise de vue pour ce paysage étonnant. j'aime bien les arbres en 1er plan, on dirait des têtes ébouriffées.

Hey Daniel,
thats a fantastic vista. Tell me, what kinds of fruit does this tree proiduce? You said its related to a pineapple, does it taste like a pineapple? Also, if it takes 100 years to flower, how long does it take to make fruit? Its a surreal looking tree though. I think I need some pineapple now:) Or puya.

bonjour Daniel
j'aime bien ce paysage ponctué de ces cactus. le grand plus de cette photo c'est la lumière et les ombres projetées qui filent en diagonale vers la droite. A gauche le gros cactus du premier plan semble rayonner ! compo réussie !
Bravo

Colors are very typical for this landscape with a good POV looking downwards deep in this view to some enlightened sunny mist.

Hi Daniel - strange and fascinating vegetation, I've never seen these things, nice way to show them up close and in distant cluster.

Also interesting, but again I'm not quite sure about your framing. If you want to exclude the sky, really do it - this tiny sliver with cut-off trees leaves the impression we're missing something. In this case, though, I like the blue haze in the distance (which enhances the missing-something feeling) - I'd probably choose a wider rather than narrower framing.
