Photographer’s Note

Weymouth, Nova Scotia, is a small village that used to be one of the centres of tall-ship construction in Canada. Early photos of Weymouth show a harbour crowded with square-rigged ships and multi-masted schooners. The decline of wooden tall ship building in favour of steel vessels saw this industry virtually disappear in this area of the Atlantic Canadian Provinces.

This photo was taken at sunset at the mouth of the Sissaboo River, and shows the peninsula of New Edinburgh on the left and tall grasses on the Fort Point Road in the foreground.
