2005 - The year of the great drought.
Once the pastures were green and there were pines for miles and miles.
In 1975 the great fires started.
15 years later, the last 20 ha of gigantic pines melted into the scorched earth that now surrounded them.
The seeds survived the and new pines started to grow again.
On August 1 2003 the next fire came.
Too early for the descendents of the giants to leave seeds.
Note:
I wonder if those 20 ha were accounted on the 71254 ha that officially burned on that day in Portugal.
