Taken on the Swedish island Gotland in Visby during the annual Medieval Week. After sunset I walked around on a market with my camera and a monopod attached to it and I found this market-stall interesting enough to give it a shot. I liked the way how the yellow light from the tree ceramic torch-like candles contrasted the blue linen awning. Composition-wise a triangle is formed by the ceramic candles and each candle holder itself lits three flames... Just a play...

I do like to mention the following and thereby hopefully providing you an opportunity to relate to a musical part of Sweden's rich history...

To re-live the same atmosphere as I felt that cast me back in medieval times I recommend to try listening to Swedish folk bands like "Hedningarna" (f.i. the song "dolkaren") or "Garmarna" (f.i. the song "vänner och fränder"), whilst looking at this candle-flame threesome...

The illumination makes this one. Good job on exposuring it getting nice soft colours to go with the nice soft focus. Perhaps a tigher crop might work for the comp?

I don't have Hedningarne around, but the pic works in its own right!

Beautiful capture as usual Edwin.

The mood in this picture is perfect. Like you said, the yellow/brown and the blue colors complement each other magnificently. All the soft shapes and natural colors are very pleasing to the eye. I'll make sure to turn on Garmarna when I come home tonight and look at this picture.

What a beautiful and soft atmosphere this picture conveys. The light coming out of the ceramic candles, and the way it illuminates the surroundings, is fascinating. Also, like the others said, the soft focus together with the soft colors works wonders on this one. The notes are good, very educational. Very well done, Edwin!

very soft picture, somehow romantic.. all those shapes and flames, a bit unreal, nice...

medieval... christmas... atmospheric for sure! beautiful soft focus and the setting with the mirror works really well! very good composition!

Again, absolutly stunning colors and light! Composition is perfect. I almost feel that I'm in the middle of all those objects!

And Hedningarna is great also! I know abbout them since Kaksi and Tra albums! Garmarna I've heard a bit less though.

Fine idea, wonderful execution

It's magic.

A beautiful composition!
Nice play of lights, shadows and colours. I like the soft "moody" image, it ought to be like that...

The colors in this picture are like Rembrant's painting, and I like both of them!

I like the mood which emerges from this pic. I would not want it sharper. The softness added to the lamps light, give a special atmosphere. Nicely composed, well done indeed Edwin. Happy Hollidays.
