Photographer’s Note

de Stompe Toren

This picture has been on the waiting list for reposting a quite long time, but today I repost it, cause I think the first version was far too much PP'ed. This one is better if you ask me.

This nice little church is well-known in Haarlem, it's called de Stompe Toren (the Blunt Tower) and is located in the village of Spaarnwoude.

The tower is from the 13th century. During the siege of Haarlem by the Spanish Army in 1573, the village was burnt down, but this tower survived. In 1764 the tower was extended with the church.

Around the village of Spaarnwoude there are a lot of farms (of which you can see one here in front), cycle lanes and a recreation area.

My father has also made two pictures in this village:
Spaarnwoude
Spaarnwoude.

The picture was taken on a (too) bright winterday in January.

I hope you like this repost!
