Photographer’s Note
Cleaning up the harddisk I found this
old picture from Kinderdijk. Not a pricewinner
but still worth a post,I think.
Kinderdijk has the worlds highest population
of windmills ;-))) and this is only one
of them,Click on Kinderdijk above if you
want to see more of them.
Taken with a Contax RTS II and a Zeiss Planar 1,4 50mm.

Mooie Hermann,
schitterende compositie, goede kleuren, uitstekende, details, mooi dat tegenlicht effect. Echt een om van te genieten. Goed werk Hermann. Het lijkt me toch wel dat je met je kennis in de toekomst nog maar eens langs moet gaan daar.

I don’t know if I agree that this one is not a prizewinner… In fact it’s one of the best mill images of this place I’ve seen. The contrast between the warm sky and the cold greenish bottom part is great and unusual. The reflection is great, and the whole image seems to glow, like a good print in extra brilliant paper. And I love it.

You can never have too many windmills I dont think! I think they are beautiful things to photograph and this just proves it! I dont think we could ask for a more photogenic scene, the windmill, the trees for silhouettes AND swans!!
The sunset is a bonus too! Great shot Hermann!
PS how are you enjoying parenthood? :)

Good idea to clean up your disk Hermann ! This picture is really amazing ! Colours are very rich and warm providing a beautiful contrast to the overall picture. YOu've composed it so well with this windmill perfectly placed in the frame and the reflexion play their role of giving a beautiful artistical symetry. Very well done !

Hi Hermann, What a beautiful color combination in this photo. I like the strong contrast of the golden sunlight and green ground color. The reflections on the water are beautiful especially with the ripples on the water. A well taken picture with sharpness and details. Well done.

This is a real masterpeice, Hermann. It may be just a bisschen oversharpened: with so many fine details, you might not want to sharpen at all. Lovely light and composition. Dieses Photo is ganz shoen!

Hello Hermann
we often see the mill of Kinderdijk this time ... but it's nothing because all the compo are beautiful. nice POV and frame, the sky is very nice, but i find the lower side a bit to green, and the sun too centered ...
but to keep this nice reflection and the swan in, you didn't have any alternative ...
Nice compo.
Regards, hugues.
Sorry, green later

Hi Hermann,
I remember we got some nice pearls out of Norbert's hard disk, it seems yours is rich as well ;-)
I like this very beautiful view of Kinderdijk, the water with the reflections on it adds a great clarity further enhanced by the colors thrown by the setting sun, the mill silhouette sets the place at once, the elements are well placed, it's a hit Hermann, please keep on cleaning !
Have a nice day,

Hello Hermann, I missed this picture so I'm glad your involving it in the battle. Beautiful evening shot, superb reflection of the windmill and the sunset in the surface of the water, with a few wrinkles to add to the fun. The presence of the swans is great! They seem to be heading to the mill, as if it is their home.

Splendid colors, great composition - what a calm evening.
Unfortunately, the glow around the windmill really disturbs me. Looks like some "sloppy" Photoshopping - quite unreal for my taste.
Still, great pic!

Here I've been away and you've posted what I think is one of your best that I've seen. The colors are just fantastic and yet they work best because they're a stage for the centerpiece. What drama!

You are too modest, Hermann. This could well be a prizewinner! Although there are hundreds of 'classic' windmill scenes like this on TE, whats sets this one apart from are the lovely colours that you have captured in the sky combined with the interesting reflections of the trees in the water (and maybe I should add the swans as well!) Cheers . . . David
