| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
It was a dark and foggy night the other nigh, so naturally I donned warm clothes, grabbed my camera and took a midnight stroll.
76 images later (god I love digital photography) this one turned out to be the only one that was really sharp, I guess my tiny camera just isn't made for low light conditions. :(
This statue can be found in the Rålambshovs park on Kungsholmen, Stockholm, not far from where I live. It really reminds me of the Hammers from the Pink Floyd movie "The Wall" hence the title.
This statue has it's own illumination and that is the only light used for this picture.
I don't have a tripod and couldn't balance my camera on the short side in the grass so I borrowed a toy bucket with sand, from a nearby playground. I put the bucket on the ground and stuck my camera in the sand to hold it steady. Maybe I should just buy a tripod...
[EDIT]
I went back to find the answers to some of the questions raised. The statue is approximately 4m high, including the foundation. It is named "Monument över yxman" (roughly "Monument over Axeman", see, Swedish is easy), it was raised 1966 and created by Eric Grate (1896-1983)

This is right out of the EDDAS and your Teutonic mythology - Thors hammer! I like the tre in the Background as well, it adds to the admosphere. You could maybe get rid of the highlight on the RHS "leg" by blurring tool in PS. Quite moody
I'm getting admired about your unnusual tripods, Mattias! I like to read your studio performances to take difficult shots. But they almost get so good as if you were using a real one. This shot is good. I would just like to have a scale reference. By the way: what is the motive of that sculpture?

Nice shot Mathias, looks like gold. I have the same problem with my digital. Unless i have a tripod i cant take sharp pic in the dark, but you did very well, and you have good imagination. i would just try and stand really still and come home with a bunch of blurred pics. :)
I like this statue. Although the photographing conditions obviously weren't the best you got a pretty creepy picture here. The unnatural city-lit sky gives an eiry feel together with the tree. The statue has the same type of colors as the sky but still stands out of the picture because of the reflections and it's very effective.
...and again i think you are inspired by Pink Floyd!
...and again i like it...
in my humble opinion, i would crop out the "foot" - don;t know the swedish word for that, i only know one swedish word: "öl" - and get rid of the tree in the upper right corner...
but then again, i must say... nice picture!
