Photographer’s Note

This is one of my favourite seaside towns in Devon. This shot is taken over the estuary at lowtide. I have sharpened the photo and adjusted the colour balance to bring out the red slightly. I hope you enjoy.

"Teignmouth is an historic port on the mouth of the Teign estuary. It has all the attractions of a seaside town, including a Victorian pier. Teignmouth is a working harbour, with many vessels, large ships, fishing boats and pleasure craft, entering and leaving the port.

The estuary side of the town has a very different atmosphere. Boats rest peacefully in the busy harbour, ferries take people across the estuary mouth to the quaint picturesque village of Shaldon, just across the water.

The estuary is a lively place, with waterside inns, boats for hire, fishing boats, yacht and beach huts - set against the stunning backdrop of Shaldon and the rolling fringes of Dartmoor, which can be seen in the distance."

Nice sunset view Garry. Good depth in the image. Very nice reflections on the quite water surface. I like the boats spreaded all over the view. Maybe the sun and the clouds in the upper part are a bit blurred. But very well done anyway. Bravo!

A lovely shot, but i think that this would have been improved dramatically had you used a longer exposure time to really bring out the details in the boats as well as the brightness in the sky, i also think a portrait shot would have been a good idea to get the boats right at the bottom on the shot into the frame.

Hi Garry
Another place that I know well! I like the POV which shows how long the bridge is, and the reflection on the water gives it a lovely silken texture. The overall feel of the shot is a little dark - using a ND graduated filter would have brought out more detail in the boats at the bottom of the shot while balancing the exposure of the sky.
