Photographers Note
these boys were homeless and living just in the backyard of a famous mosque Eyüp Sultan,in Istanbul.this mosque is always crowded with people who comes to pry for something and it's their ADAQ.when their wish became true, then they do what their ADAQ was.the ADAQ might be to feed 100 homeless people for 1 day or sacrifice a sheep as Qurban and dispersing the meat to poor people etc.
these boys were homeless but never shy, they wanted me to take their picture for just a pose and while I was trying to capture the moment, the one at the right was moving his hand in a way and saying 'we can solve,if u've a trouble':-)
and Istanbul is an important center of crime in Turkey nowadays.lots of boys are moved/kidnapped there from their villages in Eastern parts, and forced for crime by some sorts of gangs.
sorry for the scanning quality.

nejat,

The story behind the photo is quite interesting. These boys look hardened. I wonder why they offered you their services. Wonderful capture.

Interesting and informative note, Nejat. These boys bring so much delight by their smiles. Despite such tragic living circumstances it shows they are, like all boys, still full of life and fun...and probably a little mischief, too :). Very good capture.

Nejat - this photo for me is what Trek Earth is all about. It really makes me think and try to understand another place and people. These boys couldn't be older than 10 or 11, yet their faces show a wealth of experience.
Boys their age in western countries would be embarassed to embrace each other so, but to these boys it seems so natural. It reminds me of how easy it was to make friends at that age. I could just walk up to another boy and say "What's your name? Let's be friends". At least this one thing may be so simple for these two...
On a completely unrelated note - why do you bother with the copyright logo? Have you experienced people stealing your images?
Cheers,
James.

What's amazing is that you always find something interesting enough to throw yourself in it all the way.
