This picture was taken in Arbil, Iraq a week before the war broke out and a day before I pulled out and returned to the US.
In the center of Arbil is a huge fortress of which its current structure is hundreds of years old. The fortress is built on top of several millenia worth of downtowns that have been built on this spot since before recorded time. Before the war, this fortress was filled with Kurdish IDP's (Internally Displaced People) from the Kirkuk and Mosul regions. Everyone I talked to here was waiting for Saddam to be overthrown so they could go back home.
I'm currently raising money to travel back there to finish a documentary I started earlier this year. |

This photo looks "digital" if you know what I mean, but the expression on the subject, and the marvelous composition are so nice and so effective. Nice work! (Sorry, out of faces today!).
