Photographer’s Note
Here is a photo of Bergen, which I took last march, when it actually still was winter in Bergen (the second biggest city of Norway).
We found this pond when we were looking for the bus to our hostel. There were some beautiful, colourful refelctions in this pond. I took a whole series here, but they almost all failed.
The light conditions were very difficult. On this photo you only see the foot of the mountain, and this is the only one that didn't fail.
I also tried a lot photo whith the whole moutain, but the all were overexposed by the top and too dark by the bottom, so only this which I took a bit closer came out quite okay (after somw quite heavy postprocessing).
I decreased the light and increased the contrasts, the yellow tones and the saturation all quite a lot. The photo is also rotated. I will post the orginal in a ws to show you the difference.
The orginal can be seen here.

Hi Stef
Joli travail

Very nice photo Stef, as you possibly know I am a big fan of reflections in water photos and this is no exception. It looks like the lighting was quite dull so you have done well to salvage something from a trip yo say was plagued by failed photos. I hate it when you take lots of photos on a trip and are particularly pleased by what you see on the LCD screen, but when you get them on the computer they are all blurry or just wrong!
Good job on getting these colours out! And also that looks like a HUGE pond!!

Hello Stef !
Good one. Colorful without the extreme saturation we often see in pics of this kind. The soft tones is a high point in this shot. Combined with the reflection, the image of the buildings on the hill form an attractive composition that depicts very well the norwegian architecture style.
Very well done ! Congratulations.

Very nice picture stef. Everytime I see a picture from Norway or Sweden I want to visit that place. The picture reveals the homely atmosphere of the city. Few people walking on the streets with less cars parked along the curb. there is bus on the far right. It all reveals the leisure of the city. The architecture of the houses are quite detail. I love this picture.

Hi Stef,
Nice picture. The reflects are very colourfull. They add a lot to the picture, as the buildings are likely not to be considered jewels of the Norwegian architecture ;o)

Hi Stef,
Very nice photo full of colours and interesting details. You did a good work in PP by increasing contrast. Framing seems to be rather incidental, but it doesn't mind at all, because it leaves space for imagination -- we can guess what's on the left and right behind the photo's borders. Well done.
Thanks,
Marek

Despite the lack of sun this photo still came out nice. The photo is clear, well defined with good POV. Some of the buildings are 3 stories high, are those apartments?
I just got back after a 5 day drive to Shasta County in Northern California. I saw the only work of Santiago Calatrava in California, the Sundial Bridge. I will be posting it in a couple of days.

Bonjour Stef,

Hi Stef, outstanding shot! Your post-processing couldn’t have been any better. I could stare at those warm reflections all day. And the way you've captured the hill is also excellent adding some vertical depth to the shot. Very nice one Stef.

Very good example Stef for illustrating what a difference some well made postprocessing do to a shot.
The final result vary attractive in the light and presented colours. Fine reflective effect from the little lake. Good presentation of this part of Bergen.

Hi Stef,
What a magnificent scene! The colour and reflections are outstanding and I like the large format. The details of the buildings are rendered with outstanding clarity, and the ambience is one of lightheartedness in this delightful spot. Well captured.

Bonjour Stef
Hello Stef
It is a very interesting composition with this architecture of the Scandinavian type. The colors are saturated perfectly.
I do not see your Speed/diaphragm parameters, it seems to me that the image requires a small supplement of sharpeness which is possible to make with a light use of USM filter of Adobe Photoshop.

This kind of picture make me think about what good taste is. There's absolutely nothing which comes to spoil the houses which have almost the same styile in different colors: Pure beauty for me. Beautiful is the landscape and so is the picture you took. Izzet

Your PP work is admirable. It was a nice photo to start with, but you've brought it to something very eyecatching. I agree with the comments about a "patchwork" colorful "wall of houses"! I like the bright Norweigian buildings, something cheery in the midst of their long winters. I might've cropped the red ball on the water?
