Photographer’s Note
Cats were first domesticated over 5000 years ago by the egyptians and have since became one of the most popular pets in the world.
Around 3000 BC egyptians used to keep food in wicker containers and eventually rodents began swarming the egyption cities and finally a small cat that was yellow with black stripes the ansetors of domestic cats began to fill the cities with the abundance of rats and mice and taking care of the problem, well the egyptions welcomes their new friends for taking care of the problem and soon started leaving them scraps of food, eventually leading to the number one house pet of today, CATS!!
I was in my living room this morning and my dog was freaking out, out the window and i looked and this little fella was outside hunting in our yard, i think for bugs... anyways he was cute soo i tried to get a good shot of him hunting and this is what i was left with.... I know it's not a great photo, but i think it is intresting with an intresting angle..
pp includes A LITTLE saturisation and cropping...
hope you enjoy!!

Bonjour Ashley. And as you are new on TrekEarth so: Welcome to you!
You've sent a very lovely picture, very sharp and with a great low point of view, but, as you're just beginning posting on TE, I think you should be aware of the TOS (Terms of Service) and especially point 5:
"Photographs of family, friends, or pets (not only one's own) are highly discouraged and may be removed with notice.
That's why this picture may be removed. Mostly, this kind of pictures can better be uploaded on the sister site TL where you certainly will get more respons.
Click here to visit TrekLens and become a TL member too...
I wish you a great time on the Trek sites!

Bad news I read about this neat pictue! It's surely a wild cat; everybody can see that!!
Therewithal, the shot is focused to the little wild flower; this is a shot for TrekNature!!
I hope you read this Ash before the picture is removed with the comments. I'm doing at least 15 minutes about this message with my dictonary.
Great picture and especially spontanesly born this day; I like that.
The upper part is missing from this wild cat but that's fashion in photography nowadays; so very well done.

Good photo from a nice, low angle Ashley. It looks like in a second or two he'll be grabbing your camera. :-)

I don't know much about the terms of TE, but now I've surely known some terms. Beside this I've learned also some nice things about cats. And everything for free ;)) thanks to your picture. Nice shot. TFS.

Excellent low perspective. This must be the last view of that bug he's after. Regards, Huub

well, you acted in the purr ;-) of the moment, and came up with something very personal and creative. The composition and framing are well conveying the fact that cats are often to be shot on their terms, not ours, which your title aptly tells us. Superb DOF for the blurry patch of green we see it thru.

No, I have to contradict: It is a great photo - because it is "genuine". And the cats face has a wonderful expression. The little piece of blue sky and the daisies make it a perfect composition.
The egytians loved their cats so much that Thutmosis(late heir to throne of Amenophis III.) had his beloved pet mummified and buried in a precious casket. So I think we humans did not really change within the last 300 generations.
Thanks for sharing.

It's very good. I think the DOF here is great, the Cat is sharp, other elements less so & my eye goes straight to the great expression on the Cat's face.
And the composition is great too, the angle of view here is very good. It really seems like you were able to get pretty close to him, usually when I see Cats in my back yeard they run once they spot me! Good work.

Lovely "seize the moment" shot Ashley. Looks like your camera got pounced on! DOF is just right, with the focus on the cats eyes. Colours are strong also.

Hi Ashley
You say this is not a great photo true!
Its a brilliant photo.. The way the cat is stalking.. the great angle you have taken it from. The cropping excellent.. a little bit of nit picking it's a pitty about the blade of green grass over the cats right eye.
p.s. regards Porteplume comments (re point 5)have a look at her photos of the bull dog!!!!!

Hi Ashley
I do not agree with you .... I think that it is a good shot ... you are being too modest
the sharpness is excellent and the crop is very interesting and original
tfs .... cheers ..... sarju
PS: I don't have cat or dog but the thing I like about the cats is that one has to earn the respect from them unlike dogs who are too faithful .... lols

I love the paw and the flowers. There are many things that make this photo stand out. This is such an interesting, original angle of a cat that when I saw the thumbnail, I thought it was a cougar!

Very cute indeed. Love the hunter pose. It's a pleasure to see the daisies growing in the grass. Excellent composition. I like that you got down to the cat's level for shooting. Well done.
