Photographer’s Note
Like human children, young gorillas are very curious. They tend to explore their surrounding when they are not being nurtured by their mother.
Here, the newborn Eastern Lowland Gorilla Bakiri explores part of the exhibit in the monkey house at Brookfield Zoo.
In order to best display the gorillas for the public, a large platform is raised with elevated walkways surrounding it. Ropes allow the gorillas access to this platform, and the large mammals are allowed to come and go as they please.
