Photographer’s Note
Sunset Cocktails
Steven and I recently went to Ibiza for a holiday this was taken at the savannah restaurant directly on the sea as you can see ;) During a rare chance to have the camera I snapped this shot to remember our yummy cocktails.
My favourite part of this photo is actually, the savannah written on the straw... i actually didn't notice this until i was preparing it for the site.
PP includes cropping, rotating to straighten and framing.
I hope you enjoy!!!

Hi Ashley,
I discovered Steven has taken you on board, welcome to the band of the crazy wild shooters !
There is an interesting idea behind your photo but composition deserves here some polishing... Look you have two boats in the background that you could frame using your cocktails, but the left one is cut. Also you can see light gets aggressive as the eye moves to the right. So here the solution would be to shoot more to the left, to fully enclose the two boats and reduce the aggressive light effect. Also lowering your Pov would bring the boats closer to the glasses and enhance the framing effect.
Wow, I've been long, keep experimenting Ashley and remember, don't drink and shoot as photos get blurry ;-)
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Nice idea for a shot Ashley, I can't wait till I jet off to Majorca in August!
PixelTerror has made a few comments regarding the composition and the only thing I would add is sharpening with an unsharp mask. I've done a workshop (again) to show what a difference it makes.

Haha Ashley; I hear you say: the most favorite part is in the upper left corner!!
And what part after that? Well, I think the light under in that glass of icetea.
The composition would be better if the person(s) was(were) not around.
I keep laughing because you stored this photo under categorie "Daily Life"; congratulations with your life!!
Ok Ashley; I jumped over because you wrote a nice note to my Poe-cemetry.
You can easy improve yor picture by adding some more saturation and contrast. Just play a little with Photoshop and sometimes miracles happen.
Have a nice time and search for the brilliant capture.

Nice shot Ash, good idea first of all but i htink I would like to see the persons head concealed by the lime, and the left most boat more in shot.
Apart from that its all good, I like Pauls WS especially as it shows how much detail can be extracted using the unsparp mask, this is particularly evident on the lime and the lime glass!

Hi Ashley, good subject, ...
for me the crop is too tight... I would have left a bit more on top & bottom(but its my POV) :)
and a bit sharpening will make it more alive..
cheers

Hi Ashley I have just spotted this image after critiquig another of your images. I'm sure that many people are becoming aware that this is the type of photography I enjoy 'something different' although my husband would call it armchair photography. The colours and depth of field have worked very well and as you have said yourself the Savannah on the straw adds interest. Well done!!

Very good shot Ashley. I like the way the light comes through the glasses. They look a little hazy though, I see that the workshop by eza1701 with unsharp mask has really sharpened them up. Great work though - keep posting!
ps
Would be interesting to post a shot after every round of cocktails!!!
