Photographer’s Note
I wanted to publish some USA pictures here since... a very long time. I actually didn't do it before today because I always thought I didn't have enough material. I don't know the USA very well, but this year, I had the chance to get there twice. Now, in my life, I've been 3 times in the US, which is very strange, if you consider the fact that Canada shares most of its borders with USA. The province of Quebec shares its borders with 4 american states: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York.
In the next pictures I'll publish here, I'll depict some aspects of my last road trip, which drove me (mainly) through Maine, Vermont, Massachussets, and New York state.
The first real stop I made was in Old Orchard, Maine. As a Canadian from Quebec, I knew Old Orchard as THE beach tourists (from Quebec) would visit for a low fare, and less driving hours than Florida. I had in mind that it was a kitch place, not very ugly though absolutely not of a dazzling beauty... I was right. I saw so many things remembering of Quebec (licence plates on cars, French signs on motels, street names) I almost felt "home".
Positive: the Town Hall is more beautiful than Boston's City Hall -if you know Boston, you can tell it's not difficult to have a Town Hall more charming than this cement cube they call City Hall (sorry ;)), and the Atlantic sea is always pleasant to watch.
Negative: all the areas surrounding the beach are packed with motels, hotels, chalets, rooms, whatever... (I mean: there are just too many buildings, too close from the beach.) And worse: there is a kind of mini-Disneyworld, with mini-roller coasters, and other kind of things you can see in a fun fair. Except that it's not cute at all...
The part I preferred was this restaurant (and souvenir shop) built on wood piles, because I could easily fit it in a picture. The rest was just so... ordinary.
PP: black & white, levels, contrast, frame.
