The lovely seaside town of Nafplion (also sometimes called Nauplia) is the capital and administrative center of the prefecture of Argolida, and was the first capital of modern Greece. It is an area steeped in history and has a long connection with the sea, as it is named after the Argonaut son of Poseidon! It has a lovely well-protected harbor front and it is a frequent port-of-call for cruise ships, whose passengers get a peek at this lovely town, or go on to visit the famous sites of Epidaurus and Mycenae.

Nafplio today is a modern, seaside town of 12,000 inhabitants. It has lovely streets populated by beautiful Venetian-style houses and neoclassical buildings, lots of good restaurants, harbor front cafes, and excellent shopping around Constitution Square, including a wide variety of handcrafts, ceramics, and jewelry. The town is quite picturesque and combines the beauty of the Venetian era with the grandeur of the 19th century neoclassical period. Other attractions of the town include an excellent Archaeological Museum; St. Spiridonas Church, where Kapodistrias was assassinated; and the mosque at Syntagmatos Square.

The Palamidi Fortress, which sits above and dominates the city, with the fortress on the islet, in the middle of the harbor (known as Bourtzi) are the trademarks of the city.

This photo taken from the Palamidi fortress and you can see a part of the old town and the small Bourtsi fortress lying in the harbour.

nice point of view, with a lot of details. I like the turquoise blue of the water in opposition with the orange roofs.

Mon cher ami John,
Philippe

Hi Ioannis

It's a beautifull place !
Bertrand

Hello Ioannis,
Great pov and quality picture. With your pause now this very good one, very well seen with a great angle and perspective. The sunlight in a contrast few angle of your camera direction, but you with a upper high to lower angle insight. Superb picture of contrast and light management.

Very good and congratulations. I like to see your new posts soon.

Fernando

A beautiful place!
Good light and colours.
Well done!
Greatings, Artur.

Hi John,
Welcome back after the break and with so nice picture. I like its composition and sharpness that let us see all interesting details. A little lower brightness and higher contrast would help I think. What I definitely love is that island with the fortess. If you could post its closer photo, it would be great.

Thanks,
Marek

Like Bertrand also said, a tiny little bit overexposed, but I understood this was the first photo with your new camera. Good luck with it!

I like the compostion here, first all the roofs and the a fortress in the see. The sky also has a pleasant colour.

Great view.I like the composition and prespective.Good contrast between the buildings and the water.Very good colors, light and sharpness.I like the boat.Well done!

hi John
nice to see you back with this shot showing this beautiful city with its surrounding area. The island in the middle of the blue waters is impressive. I would say a bit faster shutter speed would have been better.
great shot!

Hi John - and welcome back. Wonderful view over this town, beautiful shades of blue in the water. I also have a shot from this fortress under a darker sky, and the water looks almost black in my version (not on TE yet), what a difference!

Hello Ioannis,
Lovely tones and hues here with the colourful rooftops. A well composed scene where the beautiful water contrasts well with the urban colours. The fortress nicely balances the scene. Taken from a good POV and very well executed. Regards.
John

Yassou Ioannis
Je note une très belle composition de ce paysage paradisiaque.
Les couleurs sont très appréciables.
Cependant j'aurai sous-exposé la luminosité de -1/3 par rapport à la mesure du capteur afin de donner une meilleure saturation.

Yassou Ioannis
I note a very beautiful composition of this paradisiac landscape. The colors are very appreciable. However I will have under-exposed the luminosity of -1/3 compared to measurement of the sensor in order to give a better saturation.

Very nice point of view Ioannis, beautiful color of the water, great town view and pretty nice details you have included, well seen.

Hi John,
technically not perfect with visible overexposure (due to shooting at midday) on rock/concrete areas.
Still, the POV is very good - where inclusion of the islet is crucial for the composition.
Nice postcard from Nafplio.
