[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is Anica Teves an artist from Sao Miguel Azores (she is also and audio and video engineer). She builds very small nativity scenes or crèches using organic materials found on the beach and in t he woods. These nativity scenes are tiny. She uses very small shells, bits of wood and dried leaves to decorate her small masterpieces. These nativity scenes are called Lapinhas. Lapinhas is diminutive name for limpet
(lapa) in Portuguese. Anica makes the figures for the crèches using the clay found in the islands and then the baby Jesus is laid on a little limpet shell as his cradle. In the workshop you can see an example of her work. She often as gallery showings and her works have been presented to Prince Charles of England and the newly married royal couple from Denmark. This art form has been practiced for centuries and is a work not only of patience but of devotion and love. In her scenes she uses only found materials and recycled things that others throw out. In this photo Anica is looking for very tiny shells for the nativity scene that is on the workshop.
This photo was taken in Mosteiros area beautifully shown by Galmeida and can also be seen

I've known Anica all of my life and she is the greatest and the goofiest person around. She's had her share of tragic events in her lifetime. Pursuing this art form has not only been a means of suplemental income but also a great way for her to commune with nature and to reach a great degree of self knowledge.

The photo was cropped, layers curves and levels, flattened resized and saved. I had to use a lower quality than usual so some details may not be very good.

Hi cristina

I like the newspaper design of the shirt. Good color lighting & sharpness. The ripples on the surface of the water, & the texture in the rocks, are superb. Well done!

Fica bem,
Fernando

Hi Cristina, A nice portrait of the artist with a special angle. The background is beautifully fitting to the description in your introduction. A well taken picture with clarity and sharpness.

Hi Cristina. A nice catch showing your friend in the moment. Thanks for posting the workshop showing what you were talking about in your note. Nice shot Christina and thanks for sharing!

Olá Cristina,
Só agora é que notei que tinha lançado este novo Post sobre os Acores. Excelente nota introdutória e uma boa captura da Anica Teves, que a partir de agora fico a conhecer.

Mais uma boa referencia para S.Miguel.
Parabens e obrigado.
Fernando

Very interesting note- the nativities sound amazing. I like the shirt- it kind of looks like a camouflage against the rocks. Nice Job!

Bonjour Cristina
J'apprécie beaucoup le cadrage et la composition ainsi que la couleur.
Cependant je note un petit excès de sharpeness à cause du PP.

Hello Cristina
I appreciate much framing and the composition as well as the color. However I note a small excess of post processing sharpeness.

Thank you for commenting on my photo. And thanks for sharing about this special woman. Is she a Brazilian also? It is really neet that she has had such favor. I like how she is in action of her finding the shells. Nice contrubute.

Hi Cristina!
I was browsing through TE for photos of Nativity, in order to add them to my theme " Crêches de Noël Nativities ", and I thought this is a funny Nativity! Anyway, I enjoyed reading your note, and your intro! Anica is certailly a special person. The photo of her back, with her facing the sea is very good!
I also love the photos of the miniatures; they would be worth posting by themselves, especially in this period coming to Christmas!
Thanks for sharing!
Marie Louise.
