driving along the gated road from egton to pickering over stape moor with the setting behind us we went round a corner to be greeted with the sun coming through the trees it looked like fire dancing on the road.

Hallo Adrian,
for my opinion, the photo is much too dark.
There was not enough ligt for a photo without time exposure.
I tried a little workshop for you, hope you like it. Have a look please.

Hi Adrian, I guess to get the idea in your mind about filtering of light here and I'm interested in light jokes with colors. I like it but I suggest to postprocess a bit with curve tool and brightness/contrast.
I did a workshop as example. Take it just with an example.
