Photographer’s Note
Two French officers directing the action at the Grand Encampment of the French and Indian War at Fort Ticonderoga last month. This was during the re-enactment of the Battle of Carillon, see my 3 prior posts from this for some of the history. I don't know if this is supposed to be the Marquis de Montcalm on the left or not!
PP: RAW to TIFF to JPEG. Sharpened using the USM at 100%, 0.8 setting, added color sat, and also selected the highlights of the wooden beams in the foreground and reduced brightness, because they were overcooked, completely white, and distracting. Also rotated 4 degrees.

TFS the series Matt. After seeing the pictures, I think this is the sharpest photo (Is it because it is in RAW format?)but I like the action of "Hot Work" photo. You have done well in documenting this re-enactment of an historical event.

Hey Matt, this is becoming an intriguing series. Truly enjoyable the way you are capturing these various scenes in a colourful and yet natural, unposed manner. The clarity of this shot is outstanding. I am going to have to try some RAW shooting sometime. Very well done, learned friend.

I can see that this is a true representation from, the french "élégance".
I like very much this topic you post, well framed and coloured.
If photography had existed in these times it would have been just like this, whitout the ear protection for the left man :)))
Montcalm is famous in our history, but we finished by loosing this one against the English, otherwise you would speak french in your country:))))
Compliments

Hi Matt,
Jean-Michel wrote about elegance, yeah for sure these guys are good examples of a disappeared military elegance, your catch of the scene is great too here with the grey one evaluating the situation and the blue one looking at him expecting the command, this sets the hierarchy at once. ABout framing, I believe I would have preferred to see them in full. Great photo quality in terms of light, sharpness, colors and clarity.
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Nice photo, this is a bit like a scene of a film. I like that fact that you were quite close to this people, so that we can see them quite clearly. The water in the background is a beautiful add.

Hi Matt - these reenactments look very interesting, this one is excellent because I see nothing modern in this frame.
