Photographer’s Note
Here is an example of the traditional foursided half-timbering farmhouse. This is from the island of Agersö in Great Belt (Storebält). The white paint is quicklime. The timber construction is made of beech or oak. The foundation is granite boulders. Notice the rough pavement of the yard and gateway. Three of the farmbuildings are barnhouses, the fourth is the dwellinghouse. Roses and marsh-mallows are typical flowers around this type of houses. Notice the cats and the milk-can inside the yard. There is a smell of grains, hay, milk, cows and dunghill and roses. It's not easy to feel stress in this environment.
