Nijntje
alternative title: Nijntje in de etalage (Miffy in the shop-window)

I took this picture last night in Amsterdam. When I walked back to the Central Station, I passed de Bijenkorf (the Beehive), a big department store in Amsterdam and this is what I saw in the shop-window: the most famous little rabbit in The Netherlands: Nijntje, who is also known outside Holland as Miffy. The reason of this shop-window is her 50th anniversary, although she still is a small girl.

Her father is the picture-book writer Dick Bruna, who created her in 1955.
Besides Nijntje he has also created some other characters, who are also in this picture, like Boris and Barbara (the two bears), Betje Big (in English Poppy) and Knorretje (the two pigs).

The books about Nijntje has always titles like Nijntje in de dierentuin (Miffy in the zoo), Nijntje in het museum (Miffy in the museum), Nijntje vliegt (Miffy is flying), so that explains my alternative title.

Hi Lars, A very well captured picture with children’s fun mood. I like the cartoon figures with nice color contrast. A very clear and sharp image. I think part of them contribute the clean window of the store :D

10/10, Perfect composition and clarity, it looks more like a shot from a cartoon film on TV. Can be printed to make a birthday card for children, can be framed to make a painting. Children will love it.

Quite a new atmosphere in your galery, but a really successfull one !
The colors are great, the contrast and the dof too.

Hi Lars. What a silly shot! I sure am glad you have the good note in there because I'm clueless as to what I'm looking at otherwise! :) Good light management and I don't see any noise at all. The shot is sharp for being hand-held at 1/20th second. Good job Lars.

Dag Lars,
In feite zou ik deze catalogeren onder de noemer van een kunst foto, of bij de animatie film, want kinderen zullen daar meer of verzot op zijn, de foto is zeer scherp en zeker niet vervormd, de mensen van de Bijenkorf zullen trots zijn mochten ze deze foto zien, mooi werk Lars,

Hi Lars,
A nice break with this new theme and it shows there is still a child inside us. Great clarity despite having to go through glass and you make the right move to include the two bands of black as they helped to direct out attention to the dolls. Well seen and beautifully captured!! Regards.

Really nice comosition. The black bordering area really highlights the toy scene. It is quite cute and now I learn a bit about dutch culture.

Oh - Not something I remember from my childhood - but a fine capture of this most famous rabbit of the Neatherlands (Jeg blev belært på Dansk TV at Holland "kun" er et par provinser i Nederlandene ;-)

I was determined not to comment on this photo Lars! I saw it was "cartoonish" and didnt want to even view the full image, but curiosity got the better of me and I read the note and now I understand!
You actually did quite well to capture it as you have, it looks like the scene from some type of claymation set.

I have never encountered Miffy but if (s)he has been around 50 years I am sure that makes he(r) worthy of TE exposure :P

Ha Lars, geweldig! Hartstikke leuk idee om iets met Nijntje te doen. Er zullen weinig Nederlandse symbolen/producten zo bekend zijn in het buitenland als dit konijntje. Ik zag laatst de film "Himalaya" over een nomadenvolk in Tibet en een kindje sliep in die film onder een Nijntje-dekbed!
Je hebt er een mooie foto van gemaakt, mooi scherp en goede kleuren. Ik vind de donkere rand boven en onder ook mooi, die levert een goed contrast.

Hej Lars, a nice visual impact that this colorful shop window can give, especially at night. I didn't know that this cute rabbit was from Neatherlands. I had books of it in my childhood and visiting the webpage, some memories came to my mind. I never saw anything like that cross as a mouth :-) Very good idea for this post, excellent capture and nice poster in ws, as well.

I am affraid neither Nijntje nor Miffy reached my sight before seing this picture, but it is a nice character.
