Taken on a Tica Bus on my way to Managua. These long rides in cramped quarters give me a chance to shoot a lot of photos of the people next to me. Since we had hours and hours together, they grow accustomed to me and my camera.
Something I found very interested that is just different in foreign countries that we I don't find here in the states. Parents push their children infront of your camera to be photographed. They feel it is a priviledge, and are proud to have their children be infront of the lens. Too bad, in other parts of North America, parents are so paranoid they hide their children behind them.

a beautiful moment. you are a stranger, an outsider looking in but somehow the little girl's gaze places you as familiar. the graininess/noise/low light effect adds also to the mood, the crampness, to what is passing.

Mark a powerful composition. The girl's stare is simply amazing. Very nice choice of BW. Bala

Why BW? you know I'm really not against but it's like a distracting spot within your portfolio. I think you found out your own mood and also color tones... which are original and very distinctive.
Okayish but I don't think BW brings more in that case. I really prefered your previous postings.

Some shots are just best taken in Black and White. This one falls beautifully in that category. Nice composition and framing.. Your light is also perfect showing off this young girl's look at you..

Nice picture Mark,
I really like the contrast here.. The sparkle in her face also cheers my soul..

I love her big eyes. She looks tired after a long day and this picture captures that emotion perfectly. Good job

nice shot and good scenery ... what I like most is that this image looks out of any time ... could be today or even 30 years ago.

A capture full of emotion
In her look, we can feel tireness mixed with curiosity
The soft light and the grainy effect really add to the overall mood

Not only great work, Mark, but great feeling that we can all share, looking at that little face and the hand grapping the Mom's arm. the B&W accentuates the idea that this universal bond happens evrywhere, here on a forlorn long bus ride in the middle of a country few can spot on a map.
PS: I read Luko's comment, hummm, well....Vive la difference! ;-)

I looked at your gallery and its really true that you have enjoyed a large improvement on TE. I wanted to critique a photo of yours and this one really stood out due to the power of her gaze, the great richness of the tones and how you managed to get such power out of what to most people would be just a regular scene.

Her eyesight tells us so many stories... No words. Great moment caught. I would like to see that photo in colours.
