Idealizado em 1908 pelo engenheiro brasileiro Augusto Ferreira Ramos e inaugurado no dia 27 de outubro de 1912, o bondinho do Pão de Açúcar fez 90 anos em 2002. Primeiro teleférico instalado no Brasil e terceiro no mundo, é um dos mais importantes ícones do turismo carioca, tornando-se uma das principais marcas registradas da cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Desde sua inauguração até a data do aniversário, o teleférico transportou 31 milhões de turistas. Nos meses de dezembro, janeiro, fevereiro e julho – de alta temporada – a freqüência diária chega a três mil pessoas.

The Sugar Loaf cable car, an idea of Brazilian engineer Augusto Ferreira Ramos inaugurated on 27 October 1912, had its ninetieth anniversary in 2002. The first installed in Brazil and the third in the world, it is a major icon of Rio tourism and has become a trademark of the city. From the inauguration to the above-mentioned anniversary it transported 31 million tourists. In December, January, February and July – high season – daily attendance goes to three thousand people.

Very noce composition. The picture is perfectly cropped. Pity that the tree covers the building on the top of the mountain.

This is a great picture - I love the framing, and the silhouette of the cyclist really adds interest and scale to the well-known backdrop of the Sugarloaf. I look forward to seeing some more of your photos!

Hi Alexandre,

Nice original point of view of the Pão de açucar. Where did you take it? Originally I thought it was from Niteroi, but you say it was in Rio... I guess it must have been from Flamengo or Centro...

Anyway, I like the way the trees frame this wonderful landscape (I miss it so much...). The biker captured in backlight adds to the whole thing.

Welcome to TE.Fantastic shot.Trees looks like a frame for picture.Biker is just on right position.A little more colours in background it will be good.But like i said.Super photo.

Excellent composition, Alexandre.
I really like the way those two trees act as a frame. Although the Sugarloaf is of greater importance, one cannot help but look at the cyclist. Great timing!!

simplesmente impecável a composição da sua foto. Esta moldura de árvore e ciclovia ficou mais que demais. Só estive no Rio poucas vezes, mas nunca havia visto uma foto, digamos, tão original.
