Photographer’s Note
Candles offered as a symbol of peace and devotion.
Just sharing one evening that I spent at the Buddha's Birthday Festival in Brisbane earlier this year. One thing that really struck me was the strong devotion to the religion that was expressed by the people participating in the several ceremonies at the event. Very peaceful and respectful, dispite the fact that there were several different Buddhist groups all sharing the same event.
The people (predominantly East and South-East Asian) showed a side of themselves that I had not experienced from them in this society before - something beyond everyday courtesies and economic pursuit. A real eye opener :-)
