High altitude flamencos Photo

Photographer’s Note

This photo is taken close to "Salar de uyuni", a large high altitude salt desert in Bolivia. We went on a four days long jeep safari thru the huge area and the third day on the Jewels Road we came upon this beautiful lake. The birds that you see in the water are flamencos and the altitude here is around 4.000 meters.

I've enhanced the colors a little bit in photoshop, sharpened the edges and added the frame. Hope you like it!

It's like a mirror - fantastic. I like the colours and contrasts in this image and the flamingoes are a seemingly incongruous and fascinating addition. I love this part of the world. Thanks for posting and reminding me of it.

Hello Jacob.
Nice photo. I don't agree with you. It's not Salar de Uyuni. I think the name of this "Laguna" is Laguna Honda or laguna Canapa. If it is good, this laguna is located on the Jewels Road comming from the salar to Chili border near Licancabur volcano. In this case, it is located in the Departement of Potosi and not in the Departement of Tarija. I should travel in Bolivia in August, this year...

Gorgeous shot of a fantastic place. Everything looks so calm and peaceful in this shot even though at times this place can be so uninviting. I like the reflection in the water and of course those majestic flamingoes that seek refuge in this area.

Bolivia is also one of my favorite places... the first time I went there was in 1986, things must have changed a lot since then.
I really like your picture: great colors and so symmetrical!

Très belle image, les couleurs sont magnifiques et ces sommets ennegeis sont très beaux.J'aurais juste decale un peu le cadrage vers le bas.

Hello Jakob,

What a beautiful place and what a pretty image you sent us. I wonder why it took so few points. May be the horizon line which is right in the middle ? Personallyt it doesn not distub me because all reflections have the same problem. Theorists want the line to cross the two thirds of the picture.
Anyway, thanks for showing us this image.
