"La Maison Blue" Photo

Photographer’s Note

One of the main attractions of Penang is the Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion, in Georgetown. It was built in 1870 and has 38 rooms. This house had featured in the movie "Indochine" with Catherine Deneuve. The strong blue colour is striking and really looks nice in reality.

The restoration of this manion started in the 1990s and this effort has been recognised with many awards, including the UNESCO Conversation Award in 2000.

Wonderful colors here. The densely packed carts create a nice pattern, and the patch of red from the lantern is perfect. I also like the plants at the sides. Well composed picture of an interesting place.

Hi Tai. A beautiful still-life type of photo you made of this appealing view - all the details, like the carts, the windows, the lamp, the tiled floor and the intense blue façade blend together to a very harmonious total. I also like how you incorporated the greenery near the sides for the framing.

Great composition. I love the colours and these "bikes" in the middle of it. The framing is also good, with the two trees of each side.

What an amazing blue. Actually all the colors, the green and red too. I love vibrant and good color and you certainly got that captured here. You framed the scene well using the plants on the sides and the pattern on the floor to invite the viewer into this scene. And of course the excellent colors just ask people to come and enjoy them. And the contrast and sharpness are excellent really making an overall sharp anad stunning image.

The intense colors grab our attention with such strength that it’s hard not to look at this photo.

And when it’s open it doesn’t disappoint. Not only the image is the expected from the thumbnail seen, as the clearness and sharpness is outstanding.

A great detail is the pyramid existing in the composition made by one balloon, two windows and three rickshaws balancing the whole set. This is especially important as you’re using a centered composition. Beautiful image.
